Executive Director
Terms: Full time, based in Dushanbe
Reports To: AMCHAM Board of Directors
Position Summary: The Executive Director is the Chief Executive Officer of the AmCham Tajikistan. He/she will be responsible for the overall leadership and management of the AmCham Tajikistan operational and administrative functions. Working under the guidance of the AmCham Tajikistan Board of Directors, the Executive Director defines the association’s strategic vision, and is accountable for its implementation and the results achieved.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Oversee all management and strategic planning aspects of the organization, including advocacy, fundraising, research, commercial service and organizing support for appropriate policy changes;
•Collaborate with Board Members to prepare both long term and short term strategies for achieving goals and objectives;
• Cultivate and maintain contacts with AmChams in other CIS countries and AmCham headquarters in the U.S. and liaison with other major business groupings in Tajikistan;
• Work with AmCham Tajikistan Board Members and AmCham Tajikistan staff to plan and execute a schedule of events to benefit members;
• Be responsible for undertaking of all types of internal and external liaison;
• Establish and maintain cooperation with governmental agencies and business associations;
• Maintain and increase membership base;
• Expand business sector representation;
• Foster commercial collaboration with U.S. and other major foreign investor countries;
• Develop and maintain contacts and relationships; managing local staff and sub-contractors;
• Prepare annual budget as well as long-term financial plans;
• Review local accounting reports and comply with local accounting requirements;
• Other duties as required.
Qualifications and skills:
•Master's degree in any discipline of business administration, public administration or social sciences;
• Strong leadership and analytical skills;
• Professional experience with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in business, project management, experience with research projects, including project design, project scheduling, and contract administration;
• Effective interpersonal skills, proactive communication and team-building skills;
• Ability to create and maintain solid networks with local, regional and international contacts in the private and public sectors;
• Ability to work equally successfully both independently and in team and to maintain regular and frequent contact with Board of Directors;
• Ability to handle multiple tasks within tight deadlines;
• Ability to work successfully under pressure and deal properly with unexpected issues;
• Computer literacy and ability to use standard software (MS Word, Excel, database, Power Point) required;
• Fluency in English and Russian is required. Tajik will be an asset.
